Presets

This preset includes two variants of the factory Ultraswell preset. It gives you exp pedal better control over the swell in and out. The hotswitch blends in your dry (uneffected guitar) so you have immediate attack and reduces the swell time of the preset. This might be useful for a solo if you are using the swelling sound for rhythm in a song. YMMV. Adjust to taste.

IIRC, the H9 only has spillover delay in one of the three bypass modes. If you are not using that mode, you can still get quasi-bypass trails with the PitchFuzz and UltraTap algorithms. I have posted one "SPILLOVER" preset for each of these. PitchFuzz allows you to set a range of delay amount so I've set that range to apply a small amount of delay at all times and then (using an expression pedal) apply much longer trails for effect/emphasis. UltraTap also uses an expression pedal for this but you can' really set a minimum delay level. As a practical matter, it is more like none or all. They may have other uses but I use them to smear a note or a phrase with a ton of delay here and there. It's fun! 9/7/2022

Glitchy delay - use an expression pedal for some fun

TRIGGER sets the gate's input sensitivity in UltraTap's CHOP multi-parameter. The RELEASE time for the gate is at its shortest setting. The burst of TAPS creates a very short attack that quickly clamps down after 150 milliseconds (LENGTH). The expression pedal increases the maximum time span that contains the series of delay taps. It sweeps through resonant tones, bow-scrapes, clipped delays, individual glitches, and slowdown effects without changes in pitch. The HotSwitch brings up more dry signal, blurs the TAPS with some diffusion & modulation, and lengthens the time to gate closing.

This H9 preset was inspired by the famous Andy Timmons reverbesque delay in Robert Keeley's excellent Halo pedal. It is an approximation, not a recreation. That, in part, is because the original has a "gallop" that I don't think can be captured in UltraTap. Hopefully, it is close enough to cure your Halo gas. Recreated the Casio DG-20 Mandolin sound for the solo on Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want for a Smiths Halloween set (see the video). It's essentially a short delay that auto-repeats quickly and makes the guitar a little more robotic sounds like the Casio Johnny Marr used on the studio recording.

Here is my version of the Boss SG1 Slow Gear pedal. Like the original, it is limited/touchy. You have to learn to play the effect for it to work correctly. That means you pick harder or softer to find the dynamics sweet spot. Also, play some note of various speeds to find the speed sweet spot. With the exp pedal at heel, the sweet spot will be faster. With the exp pedal at toe, the sweet spot will be slower. I put a completely different Swell sound in the hotswitch just 'cause I could.

SlowGear Tremolo does just that: A fast buildup of delay taps that peaks, then trails off into a rapid tremolo. The Speed of the Chop is mapped from 1/16 - 1/4 note for live slowdown effects on the tails. The HotSwitch raises the Taps density from 8 to 64, for more emphasis on the 'swoosh', with a resonant tremolo sustain.
